Tips on what to take

For the flight:

• One piece of hand luggage (maximum: 7kg)
□ passport and ID-card
□ some cash for London Airport (5 hours stop)
□ camera
□ lollies / chewing gum
□ cards, magazines, books, music, travel games for the flight
□ tooth brush and paste, hair brush, deodorant, fresh T-shirt / undies /
socks (the total travel time without a shower will be about 36 hours)

For Germany:
□ pocket money (approximately €300, cash could be taken out in Germany at ATM machines)

• Check-in luggage (maximum: 20 kg)
(Try to minimise your luggage as you might want to bring things/souvenirs back
from Germany, you will be able to do your washing at your host families.)
The season will be early spring (that means the weather will be unpredictable with
temperatures ranging from around 0ºC at night to around 15ºC during the day.)

A must:
□ day pack        (big enough for water bottle and packed lunch)
(there is no free water in German cafés or restaurants!)
□ comfortable and sensible walking shoes
□ light but warm jumper(s) / long pants
□ warm and water-proof jacket with a hood / scarf
□ shower gel / hair shampoo, etc.
□ slippers / jandals for inside the house
□ pyjamas
□ (swimming things)
□ tidy and casual clothes
□ photos of family and/or New Zealand to show your host family
□ small present(s) for your host families
□ in Germany: carry your host families’ details with you at all times
□ make sure you have the cell phone number(s) of other group members and Frau Zimmer’s cell phone number
