Visiting Sanssouci Park

Today we visited Potsdam again and had a tour around the New Palace which was a summer guest house of Friedrich der Große. We walked from the Train station through the rain to the palace and met our tour guide. When we got inside the palace we were told we had to wear big slippers over our shoes to protect the floors and everybody had fun sliding around in them. Inside the palace was very beautiful with lots of marble and rooms each decorated differently but it was also very cold. It was used only for a few weeks in the summer by Friedrich and his guests. We walked around Park Sanssouci passing the Orangerie and a Chinese tea house outside which there was a well photographed squirrel. We then had two hours free time in Potsdam's main street where we had lunch and shopped around. We then caught a bus back to Werder and many of us walked into town where we bought ice cream which was very yummy. Now we have free time with our host families for the weekend.
